AMA School of Medicine (AMASOM) is the medical school of AMA Education System (AMAES). AMA has the necessary infrastructure and resources needed to model the student into the doctor of the future. It is strategically located at the heart of Makati City, Philippines. Being an American colony for 50 years English is the official language for government and routine communication. The student can communicate with the local population in English. ICAS has direct contact with the administrators of AMA School of Medicine to cater faster admission and optimum student life. The total duration of the Medical, MD or MBBS course is 4 year and 10 months for students who have been educated upto class 12 with science as the major elective subject. At AMA the initial 10 months is a Bachelors program and focuses on building foundation for a strong medical education. The next 4 years is the core medicine and clinical rotation. If the student is already a College graduate then the admission program takes 4 years only. Residency training is present at AMA for 3 to 5 years [Similar to that of USA]
The four-year curriculum arms the students with clinical reasoning, problem-solving and critical thinking skills with highlights on interdisciplinary and life-long learning. The first three years imparts an integrated understanding of the basic and clinical sciences in the classroom and community settings. The fourth year of the curriculum is devoted to the application of the basic and clinical concepts in actual clinical and community settings. The medical curriculum also employs various teaching-learning and assessment strategies to achieve the educational goals. As early as the First Year, the students are exposed to cases that would allow them to relate basic science concepts to clinical practice.
